MacCallum More Museum & Gardens: A History by N. Diana Thorpe

Sometimes the most wonderful places are found in the most unexpected locations. Nestled in the quiet shady suburbs of Chase City, Virginia, is a magical, almost secret garden. The casual observer walking through the garden may only enjoy the present, without realizing the remarkable story behind it. This, in many ways, is the story of a family. A family whose narrative played out on the state, national, and world stages, but whose roots stayed firmly planted in the red clay of south-central Virginia. They understood the need for service in time of war and in peace, and about giving back to the community in which they lived. That story culminated in the wonderful, sometimes quirky, absolutely unique place that we know as the MacCallum More Museum and Gardens. MacCallum More Museum & Gardens: A History tells the story of the Hudgins family, the statuary in the gardens, how the museum came to be and why it contains one of the most important collections of Native American artifacts in the southeast. $14.25 (all proceeds go to the upkeep of the MacCallum More Museum & Gardens).
