Q: What are your hours of operation and how much does it cost?

Our facility is open year round. Visiting hours are Mon. - Fri. 10:00 am - 5:00 pm We will be closed on major holidays and private rentals. If you have any questions please contact us at (434) 372 - 0502 or mmmg@verizon.net

Q: What can I see at the Museum and Gardens?

Our gardens are filled with treasures from around the world acquired during CMDR William (Billy)  Hudgin’s travels. Along the garden paths you will find unique statues and relics accompanied by beautiful flora and fauna. As you meander down the path you will most likely see dedications to relations of the Hudgins/Morton families, each telling a unique piece of how MacCallum More came to be. In addition to the gardens, our facility holds a museum dedicated to housing several permanent exhibits including the Arthur Robertson Arrowhead Native American artifact Collection, the Thyne Institute, the Mecklenburg Hotel, the Estes Express Lines Tribute, and a series of rotating art exhibitions.

Q: Is the Museum and Gardens wheelchair accessible?

We are wheelchair accessible. If someone in your party will need any assistance please contact us ahead of time. For guests with visual disabilities:  Signs in large print, with contrasting background, printed on a non-glossy surface.
 


PARKING:  1 designated accessible parking space, located to the right of the museum entrance.  Accessible parking space 8 ft. wide.  Accessible aisle 5 ft. wide.  Ramps well marked.  Parking for Gardens and Gift Shop are along Hudgins street with 1 designated accessible parking space.

 

TYPES OF PATHS TO OR AROUND ATTRACTION:  Slate/mixed stone in concrete, brick and stamped concrete.  Paths accessible to persons with mobility disabilities.  Steep grades may require assistance for persons in wheelchairs.

 

MUSEUM ENTRANCE:  Located left off Walker Street.  4 exterior steps, each 7 in. high.  Handrails on left/right.  Ramps provided.  2 entry doors, 36 in. wide, easily open in with knob/inside and latch handle outside 36 in above floor.
 

PUBLIC REST ROOMS:  Located inside of The ramp equipped Museum building - right rear. .  Doors 36 in. wide, opening in.  No turns to enter.  Wheelchair accessible stalls, have 36 in. wide doors opening out and handrails.  19 in. toilet seat height, 19 in. between toilet and wall.  Sink height 33 in.  Accessible stall checked regularly for obstructions. 

 

GIFT SHOP:  Aisles 48 in. wide.  Counters 30 in. high.  Aisles clear of temporary displays.

 

Q: Does the Garden have a Gift Shop?

Yes. Our Gift Shop includes a wide range of unique home and garden gifts. Hours are Mon. - Fri. 10:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Q: Are there places to eat at the MacCallum More?

We do not have any restaurants on site but your picnic basket is always welcome and encouraged. Restaurants, pizza and sub shops are located in Chase City only blocks away from MMMG
